Praktik.ai
Praktik.ai is a legal research assistant for Slovak and Czech law. It searches 22 official sources — legislation, supreme and constitutional court rulings, public registers — and returns every answer with a citation you can open and verify.
What is Praktik.ai?
Praktik.ai is an artificial intelligence platform for legal work in Slovakia and Czechia, built by a company based in Trnava. Its premise is narrow and deliberate: rather than answer from a model's memory, it retrieves from official sources and shows its working. The platform processes and keeps current 22 official sources — Slov-Lex and e-Sbírka for legislation, EUR-Lex for European law, the supreme, supreme administrative and constitutional courts of both countries, the commercial register, the cadastre, the financial administration, the public procurement office, the energy regulator, both central banks and both data protection authorities. Legislation is refreshed daily, and every statute is held in each of its successive versions, which is what allows a search to be anchored to a chosen date and return the law as it stood when the facts arose.
Five modules sit on that foundation. Chat answers questions in natural language and puts the source excerpt in a side panel, one click from the full text. Data viewer holds legislation and case law in full. Contract review applies hierarchical rules and playbooks to an uploaded agreement. Tabular Review takes hundreds of documents and returns a table. The Microsoft Word add-in brings the whole thing into the document being drafted: chat about the text, edits delivered as native tracked changes, and a citation checker that verifies a cited decision exists and genuinely supports the claim made for it. A published MCP server lets an external assistant such as Claude call Praktik as a connected tool, though the publisher marks that connector as still in testing.
The publisher claims compliance with the Slovak Bar Association's methodological guidance on AI in legal practice, processes data only on EU servers — primarily Germany — and undertakes not to train any model on customer material, an undertaking it extends contractually to the LLM providers it uses. The homepage reports 148,000 legal questions answered. The founders date the project to 2024; the company named in the terms was registered on 1 August 2025.
What it does
- Answer a legal question in plain language with a link to the exact provision or ruling behind it
- Open the cited statute or judgment in a side panel and check it without leaving the answer
- Upload a contract or client file and match its contents against current legislation and case law
- Run a contract review against predefined or custom playbooks, such as an NDA checklist
- Turn hundreds of documents into a comparison table with Tabular Review
- Work inside Microsoft Word, with suggestions arriving as native tracked changes
- Anchor a search to a chosen date and read the law as it stood when the facts occurred
When to use Praktik.ai / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Praktik.ai is the right fit.
When to use Praktik.ai
- Slovak and Czech law firms that bill by the hour and want statutory research and case-law checks done in minutes rather than afternoons
- In-house legal teams handling a steady queue of contract, employment and data-protection questions across a business
- Solo practitioners who have no junior associate to delegate first-pass research and source verification to
- Judges, court clerks and public administration lawyers who need the wording of a provision as it stood on a given date
- Tax advisers and accountants working against Slovak tax legislation and the rulings of the financial administration
When not to use Praktik.ai
- Lawyers practising outside Slovakia and Czechia: the corpus holds no other national law, so the tool returns nothing useful
- Buyers who cannot read Slovak, since the terms of use and the data processing annex are served in Slovak even on the English pages
- Anyone expecting the tool to give the legal advice itself: the terms state plainly that it does not replace professional counsel
- Teams that need a mobile app, as no iOS or Android application exists and the product is web plus a Word add-in
- Organisations whose procurement requires an independent security certificate, because no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 audit is claimed
How to use Praktik.ai
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account at praktik.ai and confirm the address in the verification email
- Ask a first question as a complete sentence, the way you would put it to an experienced colleague
- Read the answer and open the linked provision or ruling in the side panel to check it
- Spend the free messages included with registration to see how the tool handles your own subject matter
- Upload a contract or client file so the system can connect it to the relevant legislation and case law
- Run a contract review by choosing a review type, then use the predefined checks or write your own
- Use Ctrl/Cmd-K for Quick Search to jump around the application and pull up a specific statute
- Install the Microsoft Word add-in from the documented installation guide if you draft in Word
- Add app.praktik.ai/mcp as a custom connector in a compatible assistant and sign in with your Praktik account
- Work through the online academy modules on agents, skills and document handling to go further
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Every answer carries a clickable link to the official source, and the Word add-in checks that cited decisions really exist
- Twenty-two official Slovak, Czech and EU sources, with legislation updated daily and held in every historical version
- Data is processed only on EU servers, primarily in Germany, and transfers outside the EEA are contractually excluded
- A clear no-training undertaking that is extended by contract to the LLM providers, which must also retain nothing
- The Article 28 processing agreement and a fifteen-entry sub-processor list are published outright, not offered on request
- Compliance with the Slovak Bar Association's guidance is claimed and the underlying resolution is linked
- A permanent free tier, and a native Word add-in rather than yet another browser tab
Cons
- The legal corpus covers only Slovakia, Czechia and the EU, so the tool is of no use under any other national law
- The terms of use and the data processing annex are served in Slovak even at the English and Czech addresses
- The publisher's identity differs between pages: the terms name Praktik.AI s. r. o., the privacy policy and contact page name Notabot, s. r. o.
- No independent security certification is claimed, neither ISO 27001 nor SOC 2
- The credit system introduced in August 2026 makes the real monthly cost depend on usage and harder to predict
- The Word add-in and contract review open only at the Pro tier, and there is no mobile application at all
- The YouTube channel linked in the footer of every page returns a genuine 404

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Praktik.ai handles your data.
GDPR overview
Implementation is concrete rather than declarative. Annex 1 of the terms is a full Article 28 processing agreement, published in the document itself rather than offered on request, and it is accompanied by a named list of fifteen sub-processors with purpose and location. The privacy policy, last updated on 26 June 2026, sets out legal bases purpose by purpose and lists the full set of data subject rights, exercised at info@praktik.ai. Clause 3.12.7 excludes transfers of personal data outside the EEA; where the policy contemplates one it points to adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. Requests are answered within 30 days and breaches notified within 72 hours. No data protection officer and no Article 27 representative are named, which is consistent with a publisher established in Slovakia. One oddity: the controller named in the policy is Notabot, s. r. o., not the company the terms designate.
Who owns the data?
The customer keeps ownership. Annex 1 of the terms places the customer as data controller and Praktik as processor under Article 4 GDPR, so uploaded documents, prompts and matter files stay the customer's. Clause 3.7 goes further on outputs: the publisher waives its copyright in the generated material and confirms the customer may exploit it commercially. Access is scoped to the user and their organisation, and the publisher states it reaches data only with explicit consent; administrative access to production data requires named authorisation and is logged. Clause 3.11 adds that rating an answer negatively does not hand the publisher the question or the response.
Reuse rights
Yes, without asking. Clause 3.7 of the terms has the publisher waive its copyright in the outputs within the scope of the licence, and states expressly that the customer may use them for commercial purposes — so a memo, summary or contract review produced in Praktik can go straight into client work with no further permission. The publisher's own use of the customer's material runs the other way and is tightly bounded: clause 3.4 confines processing to operating the application, clause 3.6 makes any further purpose conditional on the customer's express consent, and clause 3.12.6 excludes using the data to train the publisher's models or anyone else's. Clause 3.5 extends that undertaking contractually to the LLM operators, which must serve from within the EU, retain nothing and train on nothing. The one reservation is that anonymised statistics survive account deletion for service improvement.

Hosting summary
All data is processed on servers inside the European Union, primarily in Germany on Microsoft Azure, with uploaded documents held in a private, encrypted Cloudflare R2 bucket. Clause 3.12.7 of the terms excludes transfers of personal data outside the EEA, and clause 3.5 requires the LLM providers used for answering to operate from within the EU. Traffic is encrypted with TLS 1.3 and stored data with AES-256 or an equivalent algorithm, at storage level on both Azure and Cloudflare R2. Access is protected by two-factor authentication and role-based control, staff hold no standing access to customer data, and any administrative access requires explicit authorisation and is logged. Fifteen sub-processors are named with purpose and location: infrastructure, storage, OCR, translation and web search sit in the EU, while Google Analytics, Stripe and Resend are listed in the United States and the CRM provider across the EU, UK and United States. The publisher notes that Google Analytics receives anonymised identifiers only.

Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Praktik.ai.
- Automation bias: answers arrive fast and cited, which makes them feel verified. The citation proves a source exists, not that it fits your facts — the terms themselves require you to check the output
- Skill erosion: juniors who never work through the statute by hand may not build the doctrinal instinct that lets a senior lawyer notice when an answer is confidently wrong
- Professional secrecy: uploading a client file entrusts privileged material to a third party. The safeguards are real and documented, but the duty of confidentiality stays with the lawyer
- Contracting blind: the terms of use and the data processing annex are served in Slovak even at the English addresses, so a non-Slovak-speaking buyer accepts a text they cannot read
- Publisher identity: the terms name Praktik.AI s. r. o. while the privacy policy and billing details name Notabot, s. r. o., its parent. Know which entity you are contracting with before you sign
- Cost drift: the credit model introduced in August 2026 ties spending to usage, and heavy document work can outrun a plan's allowance in ways a flat subscription would not
- Reference independence: a homepage testimonial and a case study come from Majerník & Miháliková, where one of Praktik's co-founders is a partner
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for the core product. Registration, email confirmation and a first question are enough to start, with no installation and several free messages included. Two optional steps add a little effort: the Microsoft Word add-in requires a documented install on the workstation, and connecting the MCP server means adding a custom connector by hand in a compatible assistant. Enterprise deployments are heavier by design, involving security, legal and procurement onboarding, single sign-on, custom integrations and user training, all handled with the vendor rather than self-served.

Should you pick Praktik.ai?
Praktik.ai is a narrow tool that is deep where it matters. It does one thing — retrieve Slovak, Czech and European law and show the source behind every claim — and it builds the rest of the product around making that retrieval checkable: a side panel that opens the statute, a Word add-in that verifies a cited judgment actually exists and supports the argument, and a date anchor that returns the law as it stood when the facts arose. For a lawyer in Bratislava or Brno, that combination has few local equivalents. For anyone outside those two jurisdictions, it has no value at all, and the tool makes no pretence otherwise.
The compliance posture is unusually solid for a company this young. The Article 28 processing agreement is published in full rather than promised on request, fifteen sub-processors are named with purpose and location, hosting is confined to the EU with transfers outside the EEA contractually excluded, and the no-training undertaking is extended by contract to the model providers themselves. What is missing is independent verification: no ISO 27001, no SOC 2, so the assurance rests on the publisher's own word and on the Slovak Bar Association framework it invokes.
Two things deserve a buyer's attention. The publisher's identity is not consistent across the site — the terms bind you to Praktik.AI s. r. o., while the privacy policy and billing details name its parent, Notabot, s. r. o. — and those terms, along with the processing annex, are served only in Slovak even on the English pages. Anyone signing without Slovak should have them read first. Pricing also deserves a second look: the page defaults to the annual rate, so the real monthly entry point is EUR 35 rather than the EUR 31.50 shown.
