Overview

What is Presentations.AI?

Presentations.AI is a SaaS platform that generates business presentations with AI. Founded in 2018 and out of public beta since 2023, it claims more than 12 million professional users across 150+ countries and positions itself as ChatGPT for presentations: a tool built for decks that have to move a decision forward, rather than a general-purpose design app.

The starting point can be almost anything. A natural-language prompt, a PDF, a Word or PowerPoint file, a spreadsheet, Google Docs, research notes, an email thread or a plain URL all work as input. From there the AI sequences the narrative, writes the headlines and bullet points, chooses the layout, builds charts from the numbers and drafts speaker notes. Its Brand Sync capability reads a company website and pulls colours, typography, logos and imagery style into a brand profile that is then applied to every slide. Layouts are designed to absorb content changes without breaking, and the finished deck exports as a native, fully editable .pptx file, as well as PDF, HTML and image formats.

Two capabilities separate it from one-shot deck generators. Refresh turns a deck into a living document: a master presentation is connected to Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Sheets, Tableau, Looker, Snowflake, PostgreSQL and dozens of other sources, update rules define what stays fixed and what adapts, and the deck rebuilds on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule. The REST API, with OAuth 2.0, webhooks, white-labelling and SDKs for Python, Node.js, Ruby and Java, generates decks programmatically, one per prospect, account or report.

Around that core sit six entry points, including an AI Presentation Maker, an AI Slide Creator, an AI Pitch Deck Generator and two template libraries, plus conversion tools such as PDF to PPT and Word to PPT, a Chrome extension and a ChatGPT plugin. Team features cover real-time collaboration, comments, approval workflows, version history, multiple workspaces and slide-level engagement analytics. Security is a selling point: SOC 2 Type II, TLS 1.2+ and AES-256 encryption, SSO, role-based access, audit logging, private instances and US or EU data residency options.

What it does

  • Generate a complete, structured slide deck from a prompt, a document or a URL
  • Convert PDF, Word and PowerPoint files into editable, on-brand slides
  • Apply a company's colours, fonts and logo automatically with Brand Sync
  • Export high-fidelity editable PowerPoint files, plus PDF, HTML and images
  • Refresh an existing deck with new data while its design stays locked
  • Generate decks in bulk through the REST API, webhooks, Zapier or Make
  • Collaborate in real time with comments, approvals, version history and engagement analytics

Get started

How to use Presentations.AI

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Create a free account on the web app, with no credit card, using Google, email, Microsoft Teams, LinkedIn or Apple sign-in
  2. Choose a starting point: type a prompt, write an outline, import a Word, PDF or PowerPoint file, or open one of the 100+ templates
  3. Paste your website URL so Brand Sync can pull your colours, fonts and logo into a reusable brand profile
  4. Review the AI-generated outline, edit the wording and reorder the slides before generating the deck
  5. Generate the presentation and let the AI apply layouts, visuals, transitions and your branding
  6. Refine manually where needed, since editing layout, colours, fonts, images and charts consumes no credits
  7. Export to editable PowerPoint or PDF, share a public or password-protected link, or embed the deck in a page
  8. Set up a master presentation with update rules, then connect a CRM, BI tool or spreadsheet to refresh it on schedule
  9. For automation, call the REST API or trigger generation through Zapier, Make or webhooks
  10. Install the Chrome extension to turn any web page you are reading into a deck from the browser toolbar

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • PowerPoint export is native and high fidelity, so decks fit straight into workflows already built on PowerPoint and Google Slides
  • Brand Sync applies a company's visual identity automatically from a single website URL
  • Customers keep full ownership of their content on every plan, and the vendor states it never trains its models on it
  • SOC 2 Type II certification is presented as standard on all tiers, including the free plan
  • Decks can be refreshed automatically from CRM, BI and spreadsheet data instead of being rebuilt by hand
  • A documented REST API and white-labelling allow deck generation to be embedded in another product
  • A permanent free plan with credits and no credit card makes genuine evaluation possible

Cons

  • No monthly billing: paid plans are annual or quarterly only, and the published policy excludes refunds
  • Credits are consumed twice for the same slide, five to create it and five more to export it to PowerPoint
  • There is no time-limited free trial, so evaluation relies on a fixed allowance of free credits
  • The AI cannot generate extra slides inside an already-created deck, and presentations cannot be merged
  • No mobile application, and the editor is optimised for Google Chrome
  • The API documentation address advertised on the site returned a 404 when it was checked
  • Figures disagree between pages, with free credits quoted as 100 or 200 and the user base as 8, 10 or 12 million

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Presentations.AI handles your data.

GDPR overview

Implementation is concrete rather than declarative. GDPR compliance is claimed on the home, enterprise and features pages, and backed by a published Data Processing Agreement that incorporates the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (Decision (EU) 2021/914). The agreement names an Article 27 EU representative, Rickert Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, and a data protection officer. The privacy policy, effective 12 December 2023, sets out the legal bases relied on for UK and EEA users, namely contract, legitimate interest, legal obligation and consent, and the full set of rights: access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction, portability and withdrawal of consent, answered within one month. Sub-processors are listed in Annex III, breach notification procedures are defined, and personal data is returned or deleted within thirty days of the contract ending.

Who owns the data?

Presentations.AI states that customers own what they create. Presentations generated on the platform belong to the user and their team on every plan, including the free Starter tier, and may be used, edited and distributed like any other work product. The company retains ownership of the platform itself: the site, the services and the content it supplies remain the property of Presentations.AI and its licensors. The vendor also commits never to use customer presentations to train its AI models. Anything a user deliberately publishes through the service, such as a shared profile or a public presentation link, may be visible to other users and to the wider public.

Reuse rights

Reuse requires no permission. Content generated through the platform belongs to the customer and their team, who are free to use, edit and distribute it as they would any other work product, commercial use included; the comparison pages confirm that this full ownership applies on every plan, free tier included. Exports are unbranded, and unbranded public links are available from the free plan upwards. What may not be reused is the vendor's own material: the platform, its templates and its trademarks stay the property of Presentations.AI, and its logos and proprietary graphics may not be reused to link to or frame the service without written permission.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal information is kept only as long as it is needed for the purposes it was collected for, including legal, accounting and reporting obligations. The retention period is decided case by case, weighing the volume, nature and sensitivity of the data, the risk of harm, the purposes involved and whether those purposes could be achieved another way. Once the data is no longer needed it is either securely deleted or anonymised, and anonymised data may then be kept indefinitely. Under the Data Processing Agreement, customer personal data is returned or deleted within thirty days of the contract ending, and all copies are removed as soon as reasonably practicable. Users can delete their account from the settings, which permanently erases the associated records, but deleting an account does not cancel a paid subscription. No fixed retention period is published for presentation content itself.

Hosting summary

The published Data Processing Agreement places the production environment and all customer data on Amazon Web Services, spread across multiple availability zones, with the location stated as the United States. Four other sub-processors are listed, all in the United States: Slack for messaging, Webflow for the website, Stripe for payments and Adobe for design. Data is held in a multi-tenant environment with logical isolation between customers, encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2+ and at rest with AES-256, and the information security management system is described as compliant with ISO/IEC 27001:2022. The features page additionally advertises data residency options, namely the US (Virginia), the EU (Germany or Ireland) and a custom region for enterprise contracts, along with private instances that can be air-gapped, run in the customer's own AWS or Azure account, or hosted on-premises. The page does not state which plans those options require, so the United States default described in the agreement should be assumed unless negotiated. The company states that it is headquartered in Singapore and that personal information may be transferred to the United States or elsewhere.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Presentations.AI.

  • Speed can quietly replace thinking: a deck generated in minutes still needs a human to check that the argument holds and the numbers are right
  • Automated refresh means a stale or broken data connection can push wrong figures into a board deck that nobody rereads
  • Leaning on AI-drafted narratives can erode the habit of structuring an argument yourself, which is exactly the skill needed when you are challenged in the room
  • Uploading strategy documents, customer data or unreleased figures sends them to a third-party platform hosted on AWS in the United States
  • The credit model quietly rewards generating more slides than needed, and exporting spends credits a second time, so costs can drift
  • Annual-only billing with no refunds turns an evaluation mistake into a full year of commitment
  • Polished design can mask weak or generic substance, for the author as much as for the audience
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Low for individuals: an account is created in about thirty seconds with Google, email, Microsoft Teams, LinkedIn or Apple, nothing is installed, and Brand Sync is configured by pasting a website URL. The Chrome extension installs in under a minute. Effort is moderate for the API, which uses API keys, OAuth 2.0, webhooks and SDKs. Enterprise rollout is a project rather than a setup: the vendor describes three to four weeks covering brand review, master templates, data sources, SSO and permissions, then training and a pilot, and eight to twelve weeks for organisations above five thousand employees.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Presentations.AI have a free plan?
Yes. The Starter plan costs USD 0, includes 100 credits and allows presentations of up to 20 slides, with no credit card required. It is a permanent free plan rather than a trial: the FAQ states that no time-limited free trial is offered, only free credits at sign-up.
What files can I import, and what can I export?
You can import PDF, Word (.docx) and PowerPoint files, spreadsheets, Google Docs, notes and URLs, within a 10 MB limit on Starter and 40 MB on Pro, under 100 pages and 150,000 characters. Exports include a native editable .pptx file, PDF, HTML and image formats.
How does the credit system work?
Creating a slide costs 5 credits and exporting a slide to PowerPoint costs 5 more. Exporting to PDF and editing slides manually cost nothing. Additional credits can be bought inside the product, and free accounts can hold up to 5,000 credits at a time.
Can I pay monthly?
No. Presentations.AI states that it does not offer monthly subscriptions; plans are billed annually or quarterly. The Pro tier advertised at USD 20 per month is charged as USD 240 per year, and the published policy does not allow refunds, although auto-renewal can be cancelled in the billing settings.
Who owns the presentations, and are they used to train the AI?
Customers own the presentations they create, on every plan including the free one, and can use, edit and distribute them freely. The vendor states that customer presentations are never used to train its AI models and that content is not shared with other customers.
Is Presentations.AI GDPR compliant?
The site claims GDPR compliance and publishes a Data Processing Agreement incorporating the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. It names an Article 27 EU representative, Rickert Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, together with a data protection officer, and lists its sub-processors in Annex III of that agreement.
Where is my data hosted?
The Data Processing Agreement places the production environment and all customer data on Amazon Web Services in the United States, alongside Slack, Webflow, Stripe and Adobe as sub-processors. The features page also advertises data residency options in the US (Virginia) and the EU (Germany or Ireland), plus private instances.
Is there an API, and is there a mobile app?
There is a REST API with OAuth 2.0, webhooks, white-labelling and SDKs for Python, Node.js, Ruby and Java, plus a Chrome extension and a ChatGPT plugin. There is no iOS or Android application: the product runs in the browser.
What is the minimum age to use the service?
The privacy policy states that the service is not intended for children under 16, and that personal information collected from a child under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian will be deleted.
Conclusion

Should you pick Presentations.AI?

Presentations.AI is a focused product. It does not try to build websites or social posts; it builds business decks, and most of its design decisions follow from that. The native PowerPoint export is the clearest example: it is what lets a generated deck enter a workflow already running on PowerPoint and Google Slides without the cleanup that rival tools often demand. Brand Sync, the data-driven Refresh feature and the REST API extend the same logic from one deck to a portfolio of them.

The governance story is unusually explicit for a tool of this size. Customers keep ownership of their content on every plan, the vendor states it never trains its models on customer presentations, SOC 2 Type II is presented as standard rather than as an enterprise upsell, and a full Data Processing Agreement names an Article 27 EU representative and lists sub-processors. Buyers with a compliance review to pass will find more to work with here than on most comparable sites.

The reservations are commercial rather than technical. Billing is annual or quarterly only, refunds are excluded, and credits are spent both when a slide is created and again when it is exported to PowerPoint, a detail worth modelling before committing. There is no mobile app, the AI will not add slides to a deck it has already produced, and the API documentation address the site advertises was unreachable when checked. Several published figures also disagree from one page to another, including the size of the free credit allowance and the number of users.

For sales teams, founders, consultants and enterprise teams who present for a living and need decks that stay current and on brand, it is a serious option. For occasional users who want to pay by the month, it is a poor fit.
