Presscloud
Presscloud is a Dutch PR platform that drafts press releases with AI, builds targeted journalist lists from a Benelux database of nearly 80,000 contacts, sends them and tracks the coverage that follows.
What is Presscloud?
Presscloud is a self-service public relations platform published by Presscloud B.V. in Amsterdam. Its premise is that press relations should not require an agency or a specialist: the product walks a company through writing, targeting, sending and measuring, and states plainly that no prior PR knowledge is needed.
The first step is the Presscloud AI Generator. It produces a formatted press release in about a minute from a short brief, and can read the brand's own website, social accounts and previous articles to do it. If the user has no angle at all, the generator proposes ten subjects to choose from. An editor then allows the text to be shortened, made more formal, given a quote, or switched to another language.
The second step is Presscloud AI Press Lists, which reads the finished release and assembles the journalists most likely to care about it, each with a match score. Those journalists come from a media database the company puts at 79,998 contacts across the Netherlands and Belgium, filterable by beat, medium and region. Companies can also import and manage their own contacts in a PR CRM.
Sending is scheduled to a chosen date and time. Afterwards, Media Monitoring collects the publications obtained and attaches reach and an estimated PR value, tracking one keyword on Essential and five on Pro. Around this core sit a hosted Newsroom on the company's own domain, a Personal Newsfeed of news hooks, AI-written Personalised Pitches, and open and click analytics.
Two products extend the platform for technical users. The News API exposes the Benelux news index over REST or RSS, covering the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg with more than 6,200 Dutch and 700 Belgian sources and an author name on 9% of articles. An official MCP server turns every platform function into a tool an AI client such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or Zed can call, with a scoped personal token, on the agency Enterprise plan.
The publisher states on its About page that it was founded in 2020 by the team behind the Pockies brand, and that it employs five people; no precise incorporation date is published anywhere on the site.
What it does
- Write a complete press release with AI, drawing on the brand's own website, social accounts and earlier articles
- Suggest ten possible angles when the user has no subject in mind
- Build a press list automatically by analysing the release and ranking journalists by relevance
- Generate a personalised email pitch for each journalist on the list
- Schedule and send the release, then keep the sending step behind an explicit confirmation
- Track the resulting publications with reach and an estimated PR value
- Expose the whole platform as a REST news feed or as tools an AI client can call over MCP
When to use Presscloud / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Presscloud is the right fit.
When to use Presscloud
- Dutch and Belgian small and mid-sized companies that run their own PR without hiring an agency
- PR, marketing and communication agencies handling three or more clients, who get a multi-client dashboard and white-labelling on the Growth plan
- Marketing and communication managers with no formal PR training, since the whole workflow is built around the claim that no prior PR knowledge is required
- Consumer and e-commerce brands, cultural venues, event organisers and charities that depend on earned media rather than paid advertising
- Development and data teams that need a structured Benelux news feed, through the documented News API or the MCP server
When not to use Presscloud
- Organisations targeting media outside the Benelux: the journalist database covers the Netherlands and Belgium only, and the News API stops at the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg
- Teams that must retain ownership of their press contacts, because clause 14 of the terms transfers uploaded contact data to Presscloud and folds it into its own journalist database
- Buyers who need to hold the copyright on the text they publish, since clause 15 keeps every right in AI-generated content with Presscloud
- Anyone unable to commit for a full year, as every subscription carries a one-year minimum term and renews automatically
- Organisations with formal vendor security requirements, since no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification is published, no customer data processing agreement is offered and no subprocessor list exists
How to use Presscloud
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account at presscloud.ai, choosing the Company profile for one brand or Agency for several; no card details are asked for
- Fill in a business email address, name, phone number and company name, and accept the terms
- Write the press release yourself, or describe the subject briefly and let the Presscloud AI Generator draft it
- Ask the generator for ten suggested subjects if the angle is not settled
- Refine the draft in the editor: shorten it, make it more formal, add a quote or change its language
- Let Presscloud AI Press Lists assemble the press list from the release, or import your own contacts into the PR CRM
- Narrow the list by beat, medium, region and match score
- Add an AI-generated personalised pitch for each journalist
- Set the sending date and time, confirm, and send
- Follow the coverage in Media Monitoring and the analytics, and publish the branded Newsroom so journalists can find high-resolution assets
Pros & Cons
Pros
- The whole PR chain sits in one product, from drafting the text to measuring the coverage it earned
- Real depth on the Benelux where international databases stop at the major titles: the vendor's own comparison claims more than 6,200 Dutch and 700 Belgian sources against around 300 for a typical global news API
- A 14-day trial with no payment details, and a free account to look around the dashboard first
- Prices are published openly for all three company plans and two of the three agency plans, which is uncommon in this market
- The AI generator starts from the brand's own website, social accounts and past articles rather than from a blank form
- An official MCP server lets an agency drive the platform from Claude or another client without writing any code, and the News API is documented publicly down to the field schema
- The publisher is established in the European Union, sets out its GDPR position in detail and states that processing is intended to stay within the EU
Cons
- Coverage is narrow by design: the journalist database is limited to the Netherlands and Belgium, and the News API to those two countries plus Luxembourg
- Clause 14 of the terms transfers ownership of uploaded contacts to Presscloud, which absorbs them into its commercial database and decides alone how they are exploited
- Clause 15 leaves the customer with no rights at all over the press releases the AI writes for them
- Every subscription runs for a minimum of one year and renews automatically, with only a two-week reminder and a deadline one day before the renewal date
- The entry ticket is high for a small company: EUR 129 per month excluding VAT, billed annually, and API and MCP access are reserved for the agency Enterprise plan
- Data governance is thin for a tool handling contact databases: no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, no data processing agreement offered to customers, no named subprocessor list and no stated retention period
- There is no mobile application, no single page summarising the features, and the media database page is illustrated with demonstration data from British and American outlets that has nothing to do with the real Benelux coverage
Pricing & Plans
A permanent free plan is not established. Presscloud advertises a free account to open a workspace and look around the dashboard, together with a 14-day trial that requires no payment details, but the pricing table lists no free tier and the site never states what the free account still allows once the trial ends. The cheapest recurring paid entry point is the Essential plan at EUR 129 per month, billed annually and excluding VAT, to which a 21% VAT rate applies. A one-off Single purchase at EUR 349 covers one press release to 50 recipients with no subscription at all.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Presscloud handles your data.
GDPR overview
Compliance is claimed in plain terms. The privacy policy says personal data is treated in accordance with the GDPR, the Privacy FAQ answers YES! to the compliance question, and clause 12 of the terms points back to both. The legal bases are set out: performance of the contract, consent, and legitimate interest for listing journalists found in public sources. Data subject rights are itemised, covering access, rectification, restriction, erasure, portability, objection, complaint and withdrawal of consent, with a four-week response time. Breaches are reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority within 72 hours and to the people concerned. Processing is intended to stay inside the European Union. Requests go to privacy@presscloud.ai. No data protection officer is named, no Article 27 representative is designated, and no security certification is published.
Who owns the data?
Two clauses of the terms settle this, and both favour the vendor. Clause 14 states that by uploading contact information the user transfers all ownership rights in that data to Presscloud, which may integrate it into its general journalist database and decide alone how it is used, shared or exploited, subject to the GDPR. Clause 15 keeps all copyright and moral rights in AI-generated content with Presscloud: users acquire no ownership and can be required to delete every copy if they breach the terms. In return, Presscloud undertakes to protect the contact data it obtains under its privacy policy, and clause 9 binds it to confidentiality over the customer's confidential information.
Reuse rights
Reuse is constrained rather than free. Press releases produced by the AI generator remain Presscloud's property under clause 15, so the customer publishes them without holding any copyright and can be told to delete every copy if the terms are breached. Contact details imported into the PR CRM pass to Presscloud under clause 14 and are absorbed into its general journalist database. Reusing content taken from the Presscloud website in a publicly accessible place requires permission, requested at support@presscloud.ai. Clause 4 obliges users to keep personal data obtained from other users confidential and not to misuse it, and the privacy policy restricts the system to relevant, non-commercial press releases, expressly excluding mass mailings and promotional newsletters.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
The publisher describes a jurisdiction rather than a location. The privacy policy states that Presscloud strives to process personal data only within the European Union, and that data is processed outside the Union only where the country concerned offers an adequate level of protection; no transfer to other countries or parties happens without permission. Beyond that, nothing is named: no hosting country, no data centre, no cloud provider and no certification such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2. Subprocessors are described only by category, as the party used to send mailings and the payment service provider, with Presscloud stating that it concludes a processor agreement with each. Security measures cited are SSL or comparable technology and access limited to the people who need the data. Governing law is Dutch and the Amsterdam District Court is competent; the supervisory authority is the Dutch Data Protection Authority. One point sits outside these declarations and should be treated as infrastructure rather than policy: the domain resolves to an address operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Nuremberg, Germany, which is consistent with an EU-only claim but is not itself a statement by the publisher.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Presscloud.
- The press list you patiently build is not yours to keep: clause 14 gives Presscloud ownership of every contact you upload and lets it feed them into the database it sells to everyone else, so your own research quietly becomes the vendor's asset
- You publish text you do not own. Clause 15 keeps the copyright on AI-generated releases with Presscloud, which can also demand you delete every copy if it considers the terms breached
- An AI that drafts from your website and past articles will occasionally state something confidently wrong, and the publisher guarantees nothing about accuracy. A press release goes out to journalists once and cannot be recalled, so read every line before sending
- Making it easy to reach 142 journalists makes it easy to annoy 142 journalists. Badly targeted releases sent often will damage a sender's credibility for years, and the friction that used to prevent that is exactly what this tool removes
- The journalists in the database were added on the basis of legitimate interest, not consent, from publicly available professional sources. Their right to object is real and must be respected rather than treated as an unsubscribe statistic
- The annual subscription renews by itself and the cancellation window closes a day before the renewal date, so a reminder that goes unread costs another full year
- Reach and PR value shown in Media Monitoring are the publisher's own estimates with no published methodology, and no retention period is stated anywhere for the data you entrust to the platform
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low for everyday use. Registration is advertised at 30 seconds and asks for no card details, and the platform runs entirely in the browser with no installation and no PR expertise assumed. A 30-minute onboarding demo with a specialist, a help centre and a support chat are all offered. Only two elements are technical: integrating the News API, a REST endpoint returning JSON or RSS, and configuring the MCP server, which the publisher presents as one command line and a token with no developer needed. Publishing the newsroom on your own domain requires a DNS change.

Should you pick Presscloud?
Presscloud is a coherent, unusually complete tool inside a deliberately narrow perimeter. For a Dutch or Belgian company that wants coverage in its own market without paying agency fees, the argument holds up: the AI generator removes the blank page, the press list builds itself from the release, sending and monitoring sit in the same place, and the pricing is published rather than hidden behind a sales call. The technical maturity is real for a five-person publisher, with a properly documented News API and an official MCP server that lets an agency work through Claude without writing code.
The reservations are just as concrete. The journalist database stops at the Netherlands and Belgium, so the product is a poor fit the moment your audience sits elsewhere. Two clauses deserve reading before signing: clause 14 hands ownership of the contacts you upload to Presscloud, which folds them into its own commercial database, and clause 15 leaves you no rights over the press releases the AI writes for you. Every subscription commits you for a year and renews on its own. And the governance around the data is lighter than the product itself, with no certification, no data processing agreement for customers, no subprocessor list and no stated retention period.
It is best read as a strong regional tool with an assertive contract. Companies that publish often will get the most from unlimited releases on Essential, while occasional senders are better served by the one-off Single purchase. Anyone whose compliance function reviews vendors should read the terms and the privacy policy in full before committing to the annual plan.
