PromptDrive
PromptDrive is a shared workspace where teams store, organize and comment on their AI prompts, then run ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini from the same interface using their own API keys. A free Chrome extension is included.
What is PromptDrive?
PromptDrive is a prompt management and collaboration workspace for teams that work with generative AI every day. Its home page sums the promise up in one line: organize, share and collaborate on AI prompts, and use ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini in a single workspace. The tool is published by mdk.digital GmbH, a company based in Bonn, Germany, and the footer presents it as a solution from mdk.digital.
The workspace rests on six announced feature blocks. You create a prompt, attach it to a platform, file it in a folder and add context notes; colleagues comment on it to explain how it should be used and how it has evolved. Folders, tags and permissions keep a growing library navigable, and a built-in search lets anyone find, copy and run a prompt in a few clicks. Variables turn a repetitive prompt into a template you can replay for different clients, products or teams. Every prompt and every folder has a unique URL, shared publicly or kept private inside the team. A free Chrome extension puts the same library within reach while you work in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Midjourney.
Running models works on a Bring Your Own API Key basis: you paste your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google keys, choose a model, and the provider bills the usage. Every model those APIs make available to you is supported, and custom LLM models are reserved to the Enterprise plan. No ChatGPT subscription is required, since a key is only needed to prompt from inside PromptDrive.
Three tiers are published: PERSONAL, free, with unlimited prompts, public share links and the Chrome extension; TEAM at 5 USD per user/month for prompt collaboration and private sharing; BUSINESS at 10 USD per user/month plus API fees, adding unlimited chats, chat collaboration and the OpenAI, Claude and Gemini integrations. A separate add-on, the Ultimate Prompt Library, sells 50+ prompts covering Sales, Marketing, Support, HR and software development, plus a Mega Prompt, for a one-time 29 USD with a 30-day guarantee.
One thing the publisher states clearly: PromptDrive is not a prompt generator, and no prompts come with the plans. Online since mid-2023, it claims 9,500+ users and publishes eleven named reviews.
What it does
- Create a prompt, attach it to a platform, file it in a folder and add context notes
- Organize prompts with folders, tags and permissions, then find, copy and run them from the built-in search
- Run ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini chats without leaving PromptDrive, once your own API keys are added
- Comment on a prompt so the team knows how to use it and can iterate on it together
- Insert variables into repetitive prompts and replay them for different clients, products or teams
- Share a single prompt or a whole folder through its unique URL, publicly or privately
- Call up your prompts from inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Midjourney with the free Chrome extension
When to use PromptDrive / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if PromptDrive is the right fit.
When to use PromptDrive
- Teams that share and reuse prompts instead of rewriting them: private sharing, comments and folder permissions keep one approved version in circulation.
- Agencies and freelancers who replay the same prompt for different clients, products or teams, using variables to turn a prompt into a reusable template.
- Small teams that want ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini in a single workspace without paying for a separate subscription per person and per tool.
- Daily users of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Midjourney who want their prompt library within reach inside those interfaces, through the free Chrome extension.
- Organizations that already hold their own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google API keys and prefer model usage to be billed directly by the provider.
When not to use PromptDrive
- Anyone looking for a prompt generator: the FAQ answers plainly that PromptDrive does not write prompts for you, and no prompts are bundled with the plans (the Ultimate Prompt Library is a separate 29 USD purchase).
- Users who would rather not handle API keys: running a model from inside PromptDrive requires your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google key, billed separately by that provider.
- Mobile-first users: no iOS or Android application is offered, and the browser extension is announced for Chrome only, not Firefox or Safari.
- Developers who want to embed prompt management in their own products: PromptDrive consumes third-party APIs but exposes none of its own and publishes no developer documentation.
- Regulated organizations that need a signed data processing agreement or product-specific contractual commitments: none is published, and custom LLM models are reserved to the Enterprise plan.
How to use PromptDrive
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create a free account on https://app.promptdrive.ai/register: the PERSONAL plan needs no credit card.
- Add your first prompt in the web app, attach it to a platform, choose a folder and write the context notes your colleagues will need.
- Structure the library with folders, tags and permissions so prompts stay findable as their number grows.
- Insert variables into the prompts you repeat, so a single template serves several clients, products or teams.
- Move up to the TEAM plan to invite colleagues, share prompts privately and open comments on them.
- Share a prompt or a folder through its unique URL, publicly or privately, depending on who should see it.
- Install the free Chrome extension to reach your prompts while working in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Midjourney.
- On the BUSINESS plan, create an API key in your provider account (OpenAI at https://platform.openai.com/account/api-keys, Anthropic at https://www.anthropic.com/api, Google for Gemini) and paste it into PromptDrive.
- Pick your model, run and iterate on chats without leaving the tool, and keep an eye on consumption in the provider dashboard, for example https://platform.openai.com/account/usage.
- Buy the Ultimate Prompt Library from your account if you want a ready-made prompt set, and contact support through the form or by email for anything else, with an answer announced within 48 hours.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- A permanent free plan with unlimited prompts, public share links and the Chrome extension, with no credit card required

Cons
- API fees are charged on top of the BUSINESS plan, advertised as 10 USD per user/month + Chat AI API fees
- Prompts are not included in any plan: the Ultimate Prompt Library is a further 29 USD
- No mobile application, no public API and no demo page to try before signing up
- No customer data processing agreement is published, and nothing product-specific is said about retention of prompts or about model training
- The privacy policy is the mdk.digital group document covering three websites, with no section devoted to PromptDrive
- The browser extension is Chrome-only, and the site publishes no official Chrome Web Store link for it
- Terms of service dated 20 June 2023 are short and allow access to be suspended or terminated at any time; support runs through a form and email, with no help centre or live chat

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how PromptDrive handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR compliance is documented, but at group level rather than for the product itself. The controller is mdk.digital GmbH, Fritz-Schäffer-Straße 1, 53113 Bonn, Germany (+49 228 28620 599, info@mdk.digital), and a data protection officer can be reached at datenschutzbeauftragter@mdk.digital. The policy, updated on 10 January 2025, is written against the GDPR and the German BDSG, opens with the regulation's own definitions, and lists the rights available: confirmation, access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent and complaint to a supervisory authority. An Article 28 processing agreement covers the web host, and transmissions are SSL/TLS encrypted. Established in Germany, the publisher needs no Article 27 representative. Two caveats: the same policy also covers two unrelated group websites, so no section is specific to PromptDrive, and a separate accessibility statement dated 20 July 2025 applies under North Rhine-Westphalia law.
Who owns the data?
The terms of service, in force since 20 June 2023, state that the App and its contents, including text, graphics, logos, images and software, are the property of PromptDrive, and that using the service grants no ownership or rights over it. Users receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence for personal or internal use, with no right to sublicense, resell or distribute. Nothing in those terms addresses the prompts, folders and chats users create: they are neither claimed by the publisher nor expressly recognized as the user's. For personal data, mdk.digital GmbH acts as GDPR controller and states that registration data is stored for its own internal use and, in principle, not passed on to third parties.
Reuse rights
The licence granted to the user is narrow: content in the App may be used personally or internally, never sublicensed, resold or distributed, so nothing taken from the tool can be reused freely without permission. On the publisher's side, the group privacy policy updated on 10 January 2025 places every processing operation under the GDPR and the German BDSG, on four legal bases: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)), legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) and legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). Declared purposes are answering enquiries, managing the customer relationship, performing the contract, direct marketing and newsletters, market research, and anonymisation for statistical use. Server log files (browser, operating system, provider, IP address) are collected automatically, session and persistent cookies are governed through Real Cookie Banner, Google Analytics runs only with consent and with IP anonymisation, Matomo works on pseudonymised profiles and Mouseflow records individual visits with anonymised IPs. HubSpot handles marketing, Zendesk support tickets, Postmark email delivery and Stripe payments. The publisher states it makes no automated individual decisions, and neither the terms nor the policy mentions using prompts or conversations to train AI models.

Hosting summary
No hosting location is published for the PromptDrive application itself (app.promptdrive.ai). What the mdk.digital group privacy policy, updated on 10 January 2025, does name are the providers the group uses. The website host is SiteGround Spain S.L., Calle de Prim 19, 28004 Madrid, Spain (EU), covered by an Article 28 GDPR processing agreement. Render Services, Inc., based in San Francisco, California, is named as the cloud hosting platform used. Microsoft 365 is described with storage exclusively in German data centres, in Frankfurt and near Magdeburg, with access controlled by a German data trustee. Raygun, used for monitoring, processes data in an AWS data centre in the United States, its company being based in New Zealand. Two caveats matter. The policy speaks of this website inside a document covering three group sites, so none of these statements can be safely attributed to the PromptDrive application. And the domain resolves to a Cloudflare anycast address, which says nothing about where data actually resides. For that reason, no hosting country or region is asserted here rather than a misleading one.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting PromptDrive.
- Costs can drift out of sight: on the BUSINESS plan, model usage is invoiced separately by OpenAI, Anthropic or Google on top of 10 USD per user/month, so an intensive month lands on a bill nobody is watching.
- The advertised price is not the full price: prompts are not included, and the Ultimate Prompt Library adds 29 USD to the budget.
- Ownership is only half documented: the terms claim the App and its contents for the publisher and say nothing about the prompts you write, and no retention period is published for prompts, folders or conversations.
- The privacy policy is a group document that also covers two websites unrelated to AI, nothing in it is written specifically for PromptDrive, and no data processing agreement is offered to customers.
- Service continuity rests on the publisher's discretion: the terms, unchanged since 20 June 2023, allow access to be suspended or terminated at any time, come with an as-is warranty and no availability or accuracy guarantee, and cap liability at the amounts paid, so keep your own copy of what matters.
- Centralizing prompts rewards reuse over rethinking: a shared library saves time, but it can also freeze one person's phrasing into a house standard nobody questions, and every generated answer still needs a human check before it reaches a client.
- Practical friction to anticipate: the minimum age is 13, education and non-profit discounts are granted by email only with no automated process, and the site publishes no official Chrome Web Store link for the extension it advertises.
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low. Signing up is a plain web registration, free and without a credit card on the PERSONAL plan, and organizing, sharing and commenting on prompts calls for no technical skill at all. The only real friction appears on the BUSINESS plan: you must create an API key in your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google account, paste it into PromptDrive and then watch your usage on the provider's dashboard. The FAQ gives the exact URLs for both steps. Installing the Chrome extension takes a click. There is nothing to deploy, no server to install and no code to write.

Should you pick PromptDrive?
PromptDrive answers a narrow but real problem: prompts written by one person tend to stay with that person. Put them in shared folders, tag them, give them variables and let colleagues comment, and a team stops rewriting the same instructions from scratch. Add a unique share URL per prompt and a free Chrome extension that follows you into ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Midjourney, and the tool covers most of what a shared prompt library needs.
The second half of the promise, running models in the same place, is where the economics matter. PromptDrive works on a Bring Your Own API Key basis: from the BUSINESS plan at 10 USD per user/month, you add your OpenAI, Anthropic or Google keys and pay those providers for usage. The entry ticket stays low, a permanent free plan then 5 USD per user/month for collaboration, but the invoice arrives in two parts and heavy chat usage lands on the provider's bill.
Two things deserve attention. First, the tool organizes prompts, it does not write them, and prompts themselves are a 29 USD add-on. Second, the legal frame is solid at company level and thin at product level: mdk.digital GmbH is a fully identified German publisher with a named data protection officer, a privacy policy updated on 10 January 2025 and an accessibility statement, but that policy covers three group websites, no customer data processing agreement is offered, and nothing is published about how long prompts and conversations are kept, where the application is hosted, or whether that content is ever used for training.
For a small team that already pays for model APIs and wants its prompts in one searchable, shareable place, PromptDrive is a low-cost, low-commitment choice. For an organization that needs product-specific contractual guarantees, the documentation is not there yet.
