remio is an AI agent for knowledge work, built by Everdent around a simple bet: the bottleneck is not the model, it is the context. GDPR overview
The privacy policy claims GDPR compliance for EU users in so many words, alongside CCPA/CPRA for California and PIPEDA for Canada. Concrete measures are named: access and correction from account settings, portability through support, opt-out of personalised recommendations and cookies, and a set of rights over connected Google data covering access, rectification, erasure, portability and withdrawal of consent. Browser Do Not Track signals are honoured. The document is dated September 2025. Three usual pillars are missing, however: no Article 27 EU representative is designated, no data protection officer is named, and no data processing agreement is offered to customers. The single contact point is info@remio.ai, and the terms place governing law and exclusive jurisdiction in Singapore. Compliance is therefore asserted rather than demonstrated.
Who owns the data?
Under the privacy policy, your material stays yours. Notes, highlights and collections are held on your own device, and the publisher states it does not store user content on its servers. The only data it keeps is the username and email supplied through Google, Apple or email sign-in, retained while the account is active, plus short-lived usage logs. remio says its technical staff cannot read connected Gmail content, and that ideas remain the user's own. Deleting the account from the dashboard removes the account, licences and subscriptions. The terms do note that archived copies of customer content may survive one archive cycle after termination.
Reuse rights
Users keep normal reuse of their own material: it never leaves their control by default, they can access and correct profile data from account settings, and they can request a full export from support in a common format such as JSON or CSV. No permission step is described for reusing your own content. On the publisher's side, data is used for personalisation, knowledge organisation, powering AI features and service improvement. Queries are relayed encrypted to third-party language-model providers; Ask remio exchanges are stored temporarily, encrypted and kept apart from personal notes. remio states plainly that no personal data, and no email content, is used to train models. remio's stated model is local-first: user content is held on the device, and the publisher says it does not store notes, highlights or collections on its servers. What does reach the servers is limited to account identifiers — username and email from single sign-on — plus temporary usage logs. AI requests are relayed to third-party language-model providers that the privacy policy never names individually and whose hosting locations are not stated. The terms refer to data centre facilities without giving a location, and assert that all data is encrypted at rest and in transit. No hosting country or region can be established with confidence: the terms mention a transfer to Canada and/or other countries, but that passage sits inside a residual Canadian template that the Singapore governing-law clause contradicts. Governing law and exclusive jurisdiction are Singapore. The marketing site itself is hosted on Wix, resolving to a US anycast node, which says nothing about where user data lives.
