Reveal AI
Reveal AI runs AI-moderated conversational interviews at scale, probing respondents in real time, then transcribing, coding and summarizing every answer into themes, sentiment and verbatims for market research, customer insight and employee listening teams.
What is Reveal AI?
Reveal AI is a market research platform published by Reveal.ai Inc., of Palo Alto, California, built around interviews conducted by an AI moderator. The vendor describes it as combining the depth of qualitative research with the speed of surveys: instead of a static open-ended box, each respondent has a text conversation in which the AI asks a follow-up question when an answer is thin, after which the platform transcribes, codes, clusters and scores the whole corpus automatically. The product has an unusual origin, documented on the vendor's own company page. In 2020 the US Air Force innovation unit AFWERX had to move an in-person innovation event online without losing the depth of its conversations. Consultants and developers from BMNT built a conversational AI that interviewed participants over text message: hundreds of Airmen were interviewed in days, more than sixty challenges were identified, and 190 companies were connected with 50 Air Force leaders. The team was spun out into a company, and the vendor's crowdfunding page dates the product launch to 2022. Bob Dimicco is co-founder and CEO, Matt Pistone is CTO. Four use case families are presented: market research, customer research, employee listening and social listening. Probing depth is configurable, the AI asking no follow-up, at most one, or one to two per question. Results land in a dashboard of themes, sentiment and verbatims, with segmentation, filtering, export, natural-language querying of your own data and upload of existing datasets. Reveal AI is designed to slot into an existing research stack rather than replace it: the interview can be embedded by iframe, hosted on chat.getreveal.ai, inside a third-party survey platform, with the session identifier passed through so responses reconcile. Qualtrics, Decipher, Dynata and Alchemer are named. The vendor claims the tool has been used over 1 million times, and reports 41% higher completion, 2.5x more high-value words and 40% shorter project timelines. Those are vendor figures, published without methodology. The vendor is equally explicit about what the tool is not: it states that Reveal AI augments human researchers rather than replacing them, and that every insight stays traceable back to the original respondent feedback.

When to use Reveal AI / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Reveal AI is the right fit.
When to use Reveal AI
- Market research teams running concept tests, brand image studies or product validation who need open-ended depth without weeks of manual coding
- Consumer and customer insights teams that want a continuous flow of customer verbatim rather than one-off studies
- HR, people analytics and leadership teams running engagement surveys, onboarding, change management or post-merger listening
- Consulting and advisory firms that must interview large populations quickly for a client engagement
- Research teams already invested in Qualtrics, Decipher, Dynata or Alchemer who want to enrich the open-ended questions they already ask
When not to use Reveal AI
- Individuals and one-off projects: there is no free plan, no free trial and no self-serve signup, so access begins with a sales demo and a custom quote
- Buyers who need to size a budget before speaking to sales, since no price is published anywhere on the site
- Teams hoping to replace human researchers or run full focus groups: the vendor itself states it augments researchers and is not a complete replacement for focus groups
- Teams that need voice or video interviews, a non-English interface or a mobile app, none of which are documented
- Teams standardized on SurveyMonkey or Pollfish, both marked as unable to host an embedded Reveal AI interview in the vendor's knowledge base
How to use Reveal AI
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Request a demo through the vendor's contact form, since there is no self-serve signup
- Sign in and organize your work as organizations, workspaces and projects, sharing access with your team
- In the Design tab, state the objective of the study, with the design assistant available to help draft it
- Write the opening and closing messages the respondent will see
- Enter your interview questions, adding placeholders, conditional branching and versioning as needed
- Set the global chatbot options: probing depth (none, at most one, or one to two follow-ups per question) and the post-interview redirect link
- Add an AI screener if respondents must be filtered before the interview starts
- Either launch the survey on its own, or open Embedding Configuration, customize color, progress bar and titles, and paste the generated iframe code into your existing survey platform, passing the session identifier through the tracking ID parameter
- Follow fieldwork in the Collect tab, where AI-generated answer detection and interview webhooks (complete, incomplete, screened) are available; an interview left idle for 24 hours is marked incomplete
- Open the Discover tab to read themes and sentiment, filter and segment, upload your own data, chat with your data in natural language and export the report
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Qualitative depth at survey scale: the AI follows up on open-ended answers by itself, so verbatim quality no longer depends on manual moderation
- Concrete case studies across four use case families, including Nationwide Insurance, where the vendor says a six-week project was cut to three days
- Claimed gains are specific: 41% higher completion, 2.5x more high-value words, 40% shorter projects and 2-4x more responses, all figures published by the vendor without methodology
- Fits into an existing stack instead of replacing it, the vendor claiming an iframe embed in under five minutes
- Traceability is treated as a design principle: the vendor states every insight remains linked to the original respondent feedback
- A public knowledge base of 26 articles, detailed and actively maintained, documents the real product rather than the marketing
- The experience can be tested without signing up, through a public demonstration chatbot
Cons
- No pricing is published at all: no pricing page exists across the 165 URLs of the sitemap, and a figure only comes after a sales demo
- No free plan and no free trial, the vendor explicitly declining a freemium model
- No terms of service anywhere on the site, so the contract governing data ownership, liability and termination cannot be read beforehand
- GDPR compliance is claimed on the homepage and in the product FAQ, yet the privacy policy never mentions the GDPR, lists no data subject rights, names no DPO and carries no effective date
- Nothing is published on retention periods, hosting country or region, DPAs, named sub-processors, or whether customer data trains models and how to opt out
- No public API documentation: integration relies on iframe embedding and outbound webhooks, and a single email address is published for the whole site
- Signs of neglect and internal contradiction: the main menu's 'Get started' link returns a 404, and the product FAQ names Survey Monkey as an embedding host while the knowledge base marks SurveyMonkey and Pollfish as unsupported
Pricing & Plans
No pricing is published. Reveal AI offers neither a free plan nor a free trial, and the vendor states that it does not operate a freemium model, providing live demonstrations instead. Pricing is presented as tailored to each research need and delivered as a custom quote after a demonstration, so no entry price and no currency can be reported. The vendor indicates that its offering scales from startups to enterprises, the largest of which receive custom integrations and dedicated support, but no amount is attached to any of these segments. The 'Get started' link that would lead to demo packages returns a 404 error.
- the vendor names no tier and publishes no rate card
- and quotes are issued case by case after a demonstration
Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Reveal AI handles your data.
GDPR overview
Reveal AI claims GDPR compliance in its marketing: the homepage advertises 'Privacy-first, GDPR compliant', and the product FAQ states that 'Reveal AI complies with GDPR and CCPA, using end-to-end encryption and anonymization tools', with compliance 'built into the platform'. The published privacy policy documents none of it. It never mentions the GDPR, states no legal basis for processing, lists no data subject rights (access, erasure, portability, objection), names no data protection officer and designates no Article 27 EU representative. No dedicated privacy contact exists, support@getreveal.ai being the only address on the site; no DPA is offered, no sub-processors are named, no hosting country is declared, and the policy carries no effective date. Children are covered only by a sentence saying the Services are not intended for children, with no age given. The claim is explicit; the documentation is absent.
Who owns the data?
No terms of service exist anywhere on the site, so the contract that would allocate ownership of interview transcripts and derived insights is simply not public. The privacy policy contains no ownership or intellectual property clause. It positions Reveal.ai Inc. as the controller of website and prospect data, and treats a respondent's exchange with the survey chatbot as a 'communication' it collects. The vendor reserves the right to create aggregated, de-identified or anonymous statistics and to use them for its own lawful business purposes, and to transfer data to an acquirer in a merger, sale or bankruptcy. Ownership therefore has to be settled contractually before any deployment.
Reuse rights
No published document states whether a customer may reuse the collected data without asking permission: there are no terms of service, and the privacy policy addresses only the vendor's own use. Reveal.ai Inc. declares that it uses data to provide, host, operate, analyze and improve the Services, to answer requests, to promote itself by email, mail and telephone including through third-party advertising partners and social networks, and to enforce its terms, meet legal obligations, defend claims, secure the Services and detect fraud. It shares data with hosting, IT, support, email and analytics providers, professional advisers, advertising partners, authorities and any acquirer. Cookies automatically collect device data, IP address, unique identifiers, browsing history and time spent. Whether customer data is used to train AI models is never addressed, in either direction, and the vendor states it does not respond to 'Do Not Track' signals.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
No hosting information is declared. The site names no country, no region and no hosting provider for the data collected through interviews. The privacy policy refers to hosting, IT, support, email and analytics providers as generic categories only, without naming any of them, and no sub-processor list is published. No data processing agreement is offered. The only observable technical elements are non-declarative and carry no legal weight: the marketing site is served from Webflow (cdn.prod.website-files.com) and the domain resolves to a Cloudflare anycast node (198.202.211.1) whose observed exit is in the United States. That says nothing about where the application platform itself, at app.getreveal.ai and chat.getreveal.ai, or the interview transcripts reside. The vendor claims end-to-end encryption and anonymization tools without stating where data is stored or processed. The publisher is a United States company, Reveal.ai Inc. of Palo Alto, California, so US jurisdiction is the reasonable working assumption, but it remains an assumption. Any buyer subject to a data localization requirement should obtain the hosting location, the sub-processor list and a data processing agreement in writing before signing.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Reveal AI.
- GDPR compliance is asserted in marketing but never documented: the privacy policy states no legal basis, lists no data subject rights, names no DPO and designates no Article 27 representative, leaving an EU buyer with nothing to audit
- No terms of service are published, so data ownership, liability and termination are governed by a contract you cannot read before contacting sales
- No retention period is published for respondent data, no deletion procedure is described and no dedicated contact is provided to exercise one; the 24-hour interview expiry is a session rule, not a retention rule
- Nothing is published on whether customer data is used to train AI models, and no opt-out exists on paper, which is a serious gap for a tool that collects employee and consumer verbatim
- No hosting country, region or provider is declared, no DPA is offered and no sub-processor is named, though both are standard enterprise procurement requirements; the privacy policy also allows data to pass to an acquirer on merger, sale or bankruptcy
- Performance figures (41%, 2.5x, 40%, 2-4x, 'used over 1 million times') are vendor claims with no published methodology, and the prestigious customer logos appear on a third-party crowdfunding page rather than on the official site
- Human risk: automated probing and automated coding can create a feeling of exhaustive listening while nobody reads the raw material; the vendor itself insists a human researcher must stay central, and 'Do Not Track' signals are explicitly not honored
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for standard use. The five-step flow, from objective to welcome message, questions, launch and analysis, requires no technical skill, and the vendor claims a start in under five minutes, with a design assistant to help draft the questions. Embedding is a copy-paste of iframe code generated by the interface; on Alchemer it also requires editing the snippet by hand to pass the session identifier and add width and height attributes, and the knowledge base mentions optional custom JavaScript. Only webhooks are genuinely technical, since they need an HTTP endpoint able to receive a POST, so a developer.

Should you pick Reveal AI?
Reveal AI is a serious, well-documented product on its core promise: an AI moderator that conducts text interviews, probes respondents in real time, and turns open-ended answers into coded themes, sentiment and traceable verbatims. The knowledge base is public, detailed and actively maintained, the blog is current, and the case studies are concrete across market research, customer research, employee listening and social listening. For a team that already runs surveys and loses value in unread open-ended fields, the embedded mode is a genuinely low-friction way to add depth. The reservations concern everything around the product rather than the product itself. Commercially, the site is opaque: no price, no named tier, no free plan, no free trial, and a mandatory demonstration before any figure is given, while the main menu's own 'Get started' link returns a 404. Legally, the gaps are wider. No terms of service exist anywhere on the site, so the contract that would settle data ownership, liability and termination cannot be read before contact. The privacy policy carries no effective date, never mentions the GDPR even though compliance is claimed on the homepage and in the product FAQ, lists no data subject rights, names no DPO and designates no Article 27 representative. Nothing is published on retention periods, hosting location, sub-processors, DPAs or model training. Every performance figure, from 41% higher completion to 2.5x more high-value words, 40% shorter projects and over a million uses, is a vendor claim without published methodology. The practical conclusion follows: shortlist Reveal AI on capability, then make the paperwork a condition of purchase. Ask for the master agreement, the retention schedule, the hosting jurisdiction, the sub-processor list, a data processing agreement and a written statement on model training before any employee or consumer verbatim reaches the platform.
