What is Rork?
Rork is an AI app builder published by Rork, Inc., a San Francisco company that describes its product as a platform for building and publishing mobile apps without traditional development. The user types a description of the app in ordinary language and an AI agent produces a real, working application that can be tested on a phone or in a browser within minutes. Two engines sit behind that single chat box. Rork Pro generates cross-platform apps with Expo and React Native, native Android apps in Kotlin and Compose, and web apps. GDPR overview
The word GDPR appears nowhere on Rork's website — not in the privacy policy of 19 August 2026, not in the terms, not on any other page collected. There is therefore no explicit claim of compliance, and none of non-compliance. The policy nevertheless uses the regulation's own machinery: it names legal bases (contract performance, legitimate interests, consent, legal obligations), lists rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and consent withdrawal, mentions the right to complain to a data protection authority, and cites adequacy decisions and Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers. Consent runs opt-in where required, is asked again after a year, and Global Privacy Control is honoured. No Article 27 EU representative and no Data Protection Officer are designated, and no data processing agreement is published. Rights requests go to team@rorkai.com. The only region-specific section is devoted to California, not to the European Union.
Who owns the data?
Rork's Terms of Service, last updated on 21 July 2026, state that the user retains all rights to any content, applications or data created or processed with the service, and is solely responsible for holding the rights needed to share it. Rork, Inc. keeps ownership of everything on its own side — AI models, software, interfaces, graphics, designs and code, grouped under the label Rork Content — and grants only a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the platform. Generated code can be exported and owned outright on paid plans through the two-way GitHub sync. For personal data, the privacy policy names Rork, Inc. as the controller.
Reuse rights
Users may reuse what they create without asking Rork for permission: the Terms grant the company no licence back over user content, and paid plans allow a whole project to be exported to GitHub and continued in Xcode, Cursor or any other IDE, including commercially — the FAQ confirms professional and business use on every plan. What cannot be reused is Rork itself: modifying, reproducing, distributing, reverse-engineering or creating derivative works from the platform requires written permission. On the personal-data side, projects and prompts are declared not sold and not shared, and are used to generate, host, preview and publish projects. The site never states whether they also feed model training, and offers no exclusion option.

Rork, Inc. is based in the United States and states that it uses providers in the United States and other countries; no more precise hosting location is given, and no data-residency choice is offered. Where a transfer requires it, the company says it relies on recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful mechanism, and invites requests for details. The privacy policy compensates for that vagueness with an unusually complete inventory of named third parties: Supabase for authentication, Stripe for payments, Sentry for error monitoring, Intercom for support, PostHog and Amplitude for analytics, Plausible and Vercel Speed Insights for audience measurement, Cloudflare Stream and YouTube for video, and Google, Meta, Snap, TikTok and Tolt for advertising and affiliate measurement. The security measures listed are access controls, encryption in transit, monitoring and service-provider review, with the usual caveat that no system is completely secure. - Leaning entirely on an agent to write, compile and fix the code can leave a founder unable to diagnose or maintain the product when the tool gets stuck in an error loop
