SATIM is a Polish deep-tech company whose OREC engine automatically detects, classifies and identifies vessels, vehicles and aircraft in synthetic aperture radar imagery, delivering operator-ready intelligence to defence and ISR teams from any sensor, satellite or UAV.
What is SATIM?
SATIM is a Polish deep-tech company headquartered in Krakow, with units in Dover, Delaware and London. It sells an artificial intelligence layer for synthetic aperture radar imagery, the radar sensing that sees through cloud and works at night, where optical satellites cannot. Its argument is that intelligence units running SAR-based ISR lose operational value at the exploitation layer rather than at collection: new constellations generate more radar data than analyst teams can work through, and the intelligence window closes before the analysis is done.
Two products carry that argument. OREC, for Object Recognition, is the core engine: a proprietary AI system that automatically detects, classifies and identifies objects in SAR imagery, with accuracy advertised as up to 95%. It rests on a proprietary radar signature database and on models refined against real-world data. Version 12, released on 16 November 2025, took the vessel catalogue from 110 to 250 ship classes, presented as the widest set of vessel types identified automatically on SAR; expanded catalogues for aircraft and vehicles were announced as coming shortly after. OREC-Intelligence is the ISR system built on that engine, turning SAR imagery into real-time decision triggers through persistent monitoring of areas of interest, mission-relevant alerting and analysis of activity patterns.
The company positions the technology as data-agnostic. OREC is designed to run on commercial and sovereign constellations, with Synspective, ICEYE, Capella Space, Umbra and Airbus Defence and Space named as compatible, and since a May 2026 partnership with IMSAR it also runs on SAR carried by UAVs, described as a first for the product. Outputs are machine-readable structured data that integrate into C2 systems, GEOINT fusion pipelines and multi-INT workflows, and the software can be deployed in the cloud, on-premise, air-gapped or at the edge.
The intended buyers are defence ministries across NATO Europe, the Indo-Pacific and North America, alongside integrators, satellite operators and geospatial platforms. GDPR overview
Neither GDPR nor its Polish name RODO appears anywhere on the site or in the two legal PDFs. There is no stated legal basis for processing, no described right of access, rectification, erasure, portability or objection, no data protection officer and no retention period. Transfers outside the European Economic Area rest on the user's acceptance of the policy rather than on standard contractual clauses. The only contact channel is hello@satim.co. The silence is notable because the publisher is a Polish company whose terms are governed exclusively by Polish law, so the GDPR applies to it. The privacy policy also sets a minimum age of 13, below the 16-year threshold Poland has adopted under Article 8 GDPR. As with the rest of the documentation, what exists describes the marketing website, not the OREC product or the customer data it processes.
Who owns the data?
The published legal documents cover the satim.co website only, not the OREC product or the customer data it handles. The terms and conditions state that Satim retains all rights, titles and interests in the website, including the related intellectual property rights; they say nothing about ownership of imagery, detections or intelligence produced through the product. The privacy policy deals with information a visitor supplies voluntarily, and provides that when the relationship ends the user may decide whether Satim removes their personal information from storage. Reuse rights
