Simplescraper
A no-code web scraping service that turns any website into structured data. Point and click in a free Chrome extension, automate the same job in the cloud on a schedule, or call the results back as a REST API.
What is Simplescraper?
Simplescraper is a web data extraction service that turns pages into structured CSV, JSON or Markdown. It has been online since late 2019 and works across three surfaces that share one account: a free Chrome extension, a cloud dashboard, and a REST API.
Everything revolves around a recipe — a target URL plus a set of CSS selectors, saved once and replayed as often as you like. You build one by clicking elements on a live page in the extension, or by describing what you want in plain English and letting Smart Extract assemble it. Scraping in the browser is local and instant; scraping in the cloud adds speed, multi-page navigation, run history, integrations, scheduling and parallel execution. Cloud jobs run on customised Chrome browsers, so JavaScript-heavy sites, single-page apps, infinite scroll and pagination are handled rather than worked around.
The feature surface is unusually wide for a tool with no code in it: bulk scraping of up to 5,000 URLs per recipe, deep scraping that follows a list of links and then extracts behind each one, incremental scraping that appends only what is new and keeps its dataset indefinitely, deduplication, recipe health monitoring, scraping behind a login by cookie or credentials, automatic IP rotation, reCaptcha solving, retries, and Google SERP scraping from the Pro tier upward.
AI runs through the product rather than sitting beside it. Beyond prompt-driven extraction, there is AI Enhance for transforming, cleaning and analysing results, automatic column naming, and Markdown extraction aimed at feeding language models. An MCP server exposes thirteen tools to Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or any MCP client, letting an agent scrape live pages on its own.
Three separate APIs are documented: Extract API v1, a Screenshot API and a URL Extractor API. Two utilities are free and need no account: a website-to-Markdown converter and a link extractor. Ready-made recipes and roughly thirty public templates cover property listings, job boards, auctions, e-commerce, finance and social platforms. The publisher trades simply as SimpleScraper, with support by live chat and email, and the interface is English only.
What it does
- Extract any list, table or field from a web page by clicking it, with no CSS selector to write
- Describe the data you want in plain English and let AI build the reusable scrape recipe for you
- Run one recipe across up to 5,000 URLs at once, with unlimited recipes going at the same time
- Schedule recurring scrapes, from once a minute to a specific day and hour
- Expose any recipe as a live REST endpoint and poll it, or receive results by webhook
- Push results straight into Google Sheets, Airtable, Zapier, Make or an inbox
- Convert pages to clean Markdown for an LLM, or let an AI agent scrape on demand through MCP
When to use Simplescraper / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Simplescraper is the right fit.
When to use Simplescraper
- Non-technical analysts and operators who need clean data from a website but have never written a CSS selector
- Growth, SEO and competitive-intelligence teams tracking prices, listings or search results on a recurring schedule
- Recruiters and sourcers pulling job boards and candidate directories into a spreadsheet
- Developers who want a hosted endpoint instead of maintaining their own headless-browser fleet
- Builders wiring an AI agent to live web data through the MCP server, or feeding pages to an LLM as clean Markdown
When not to use Simplescraper
- Regulated buyers who need a signed DPA, a named legal entity and a registered address before they can sign anything
- Organisations with data-residency requirements, since no hosting country or region is ever named
- Teams that need results archived in place, because each run is deleted after thirty days unless incremental scraping is used
- Mobile-first users, as there is no iOS or Android app and the capture side runs only in Chrome
- Occasional users with lumpy workloads, since monthly credits never roll over and lapse when the subscription ends
How to use Simplescraper
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Install the Simplescraper extension from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to your toolbar
- Open the page you want data from and click the elements to capture; widen the selection to pull in the rest of a list
- Let AI name the properties and columns, then download the result or save it as a reusable recipe
- For automation, open the dashboard, choose Get new data and describe the data you need in plain English
- Set the run options before saving: pagination or infinite scroll, page count, JavaScript on or off, and a schedule
- For volume, import URLs from a previous scrape or paste and upload your own list, up to 5,000 per recipe
- For protected pages, connect using either the cookies method or the credentials method
- For code, take the Bearer API key from your account page, POST to /v1/recipes/:recipeId/run, then poll /v1/results/:resultsId or wait for the webhook
- For AI agents, add the MCP server in Claude Desktop, Cursor or ChatGPT and sign in with your Simplescraper account
- Route the output onward to Google Sheets, Airtable, Zapier, Make, email or a webhook, and manage recipes from the three-dot menu
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Genuinely usable without code: click the data you want, or describe it in a sentence
- A real permanent free tier, not a countdown: free extension, free single-page browser scrapes and 100 credits on sign-up
- Three complementary modes, browser, cloud and API, on one account and one credit balance
- Dense public documentation: around twenty-eight docs pages, a full API guide, forty technical how-tos and about thirty templates
- Handles the hard cases as standard, from single-page apps and infinite scroll to logged-in pages, proxy rotation and reCaptcha
- An MCP server for AI agents, still uncommon among scraping tools
- No lock-in on the commercial side: cancel any time, and deletion of your account is self-service and documented
Cons
- The publisher is effectively anonymous: SimpleScraper is a trading name with no legal form, no address and no registration traceable in Singapore's ACRA or in GLEIF
- No public pricing page at all, so the amounts cannot be checked before you create an account
- No GDPR wording, no DPA, no Article 27 representative and no security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
- No hosting country or region is ever disclosed, only the provider names
- No legal or privacy contact address; the policy points back at the website instead of an inbox, and the one published email appears only inside the JavaScript
- Run results disappear after thirty days unless you use incremental scraping, and credits expire with the billing month
- Refunds are granted case by case at the vendor's sole discretion, and there is no mobile app or non-English interface
Pricing & Plans
A permanent free tier is available: the Chrome extension is free, single-page browser scrapes cost nothing, and every new account receives 100 cloud credits. The lowest paid entry point is the Plus plan at 39.00 USD per month, billed monthly with no minimum term and including 6,000 credits. Cloud scraping consumes two credits per page with JavaScript enabled and one without, browser multi-page scrapes cost one credit per page, and AI features cost one credit per 500 words. Credits renew each month, do not carry over, and lapse when the subscription ends. Payment is handled by Stripe. Please note that no public pricing page exists; these amounts are published by the application itself.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Simplescraper handles your data.
GDPR overview
There is no GDPR mention anywhere on this site. The acronym does not appear once across the fourteen pages collected, nor in the JavaScript bundle. The privacy policy does list rights that resemble GDPR rights, access, correction, deletion, objection and withdrawal of consent, but it hedges them with "depending on your location and applicable laws" and cites no regulation. There is no data protection officer, no Article 27 EU representative, no data processing agreement, no legal basis stated and no wording on international transfers or standard contractual clauses. Rights are exercised by contacting the site rather than a dedicated address. The terms choose Singapore law and Singapore courts, while preserving local consumer rights for EU consumers. The minimum age is set at 13, below what several EU member states require.
Who owns the data?
The terms make no ownership claim over what you extract. Simplescraper positions itself as the pipe, not the owner: data you push to your own Google Sheet, Airtable base, Zapier flow or webhook is described as yours to keep indefinitely. Account data is a separate matter. The privacy policy says the company collects your name, email, phone number, postal address and usage logs, uses them to run and improve the service, and shares them only with named providers, Google Cloud Platform for infrastructure and Stripe for payments. Sign-in credentials and OAuth tokens are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never stored in plain text. Note that no explicit ownership or customer-content clause exists in the terms.
Reuse rights
Nothing in the terms restricts what you do with the data you pull: there is no licence-back clause, no permission step and no resale limit, so extracted results can be reused freely. The constraint sits elsewhere. The terms push responsibility for lawful use onto you, forbidding any activity that breaks applicable law or infringes third-party intellectual property or privacy rights, and warning that violations can end in suspension and legal exposure. In practice that means the target site's own terms, copyright and data-protection law govern your reuse, not Simplescraper's. Results you send to an integration are explicitly yours to keep indefinitely, even after the thirty-day window closes.

Hosting summary
Simplescraper names its providers but never says where the data physically sits. The privacy policy identifies Google Cloud Platform for hosting and infrastructure, Stripe for payment processing, and Firebase Authentication for sign-in, with links to each provider's own privacy policy. Beyond those, it refers only generically to further third-party providers engaged to support and analyse the service, bound by confidentiality but not listed by name. No hosting country and no region, whether the EU, the United States or Asia-Pacific, is stated anywhere on the site, and there is no trust or security page to consult. Security is described in general terms as appropriate physical, technical and organisational measures. On jurisdiction, the terms choose Singapore law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts, while preserving local courts for EU consumers. The website itself is delivered through Fastly's content delivery network, which reflects edge distribution rather than where data is stored.

Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Simplescraper.
- You cannot identify who you are contracting with: no legal form, no address and no registration found, so recourse in a dispute is unclear
- The terms place the legality of every scrape on you, including the target site's own terms, copyright and data-protection law
- Scraping personal data from public pages can make you a controller under privacy law, a responsibility the tool never mentions
- Nothing is said about whether customer data is used to train AI models, and silence is not a commitment either way
- No hosting location is disclosed, so you cannot answer a data-residency question about your own pipeline
- Results vanish after thirty days and credits expire with the billing month, so an unattended workflow can quietly lose data
- The ease of automated collection makes it easy to over-collect, to trust extracted figures without checking them, and to build a business process on a source that can change or block you at any time
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low for the main path. Install the Chrome extension, click the data you want, and export or save it as a recipe; nothing is installed on a server and nothing is deployed. Smart Extract removes even the clicking. A little familiarity with CSS selectors helps when refining a tricky selection, and you will need to grasp how credits and the JavaScript toggle interact. The developer path is a normal REST integration: a Bearer key, a POST, then polling or a webhook. Connecting the MCP server to an AI client means editing one configuration file.

Should you pick Simplescraper?
Simplescraper does the thing it promises, and does it without asking you to write a line of code. The point-and-click extension is a genuinely low-friction way to get data out of a page, and the progression from there is unusually smooth: the same recipe you clicked together in the browser can be scheduled in the cloud, called as a REST endpoint, or handed to an AI agent through the MCP server. For a tool aimed at non-developers, the depth is surprising, with deep scraping, incremental datasets, logged-in pages, proxy rotation and reCaptcha solving all treated as standard rather than as paid extras. The documentation is thorough and public, which for this category is worth a great deal.
The reservation is not technical, it is about transparency. There is no way to find out who runs this service. The terms name SimpleScraper without a legal form, no address is published anywhere, and no matching entity could be found in Singapore's company register or in the global LEI database, even though the terms choose Singapore law. There is no pricing page you can read before signing up, no mention of the GDPR anywhere on the site, no data processing agreement, no security certification, and no statement of where the data is hosted beyond the name of the cloud provider. The single published email address only exists inside the JavaScript.
For an individual, a freelancer or a small team, the trade is reasonable and the free tier lets you test the claims before paying. For anyone who has to answer a procurement or compliance questionnaire, the missing paperwork is likely to be a blocker well before the product itself is.
