SKULaunch
SKULaunch is an AI product data platform for retailers, distributors and marketplaces. It turns messy supplier files — PDFs, spreadsheets, images — into structured, publish-ready product content, running upstream of an existing PIM or replacing one entirely.
What is SKULaunch?
SKULaunch is a web-based product data platform aimed at retailers, distributors and marketplace operators who receive supplier information in whatever format the supplier happens to use. Its premise is that most digital commerce problems — broken faceted search, empty product pages, slow time to list — share one root cause: unstructured, incomplete product data.
The platform takes two positions at once. It runs upstream of an existing PIM, feeding it clean records, or it replaces one outright through a built-in PIM layer holding a single governed record per product with variants, taxonomy and channel values. The vendor frames this as system-agnostic: enrich now, decide which downstream platform to buy later.
Work moves through four stages. Source Onboarding ingests spreadsheets, PDFs, images, web pages and standards files. Structure and Normalise defines attribute schemas per category and standardises units, naming and values across roughly 200 supplier formats. Enrichment and Content uses AI agents to extract attributes, fill gaps with automated web searches, and generate titles, descriptions and bullet points from verified attributes rather than invented specifications. Publish and Syndicate pushes approved records to a PIM, ERP, storefront or marketplace, mapped to each channel's schema.
Governance is built into the flow rather than bolted on. Every extraction carries a confidence score, publishing can be blocked below a completeness threshold, and teams review by exception — the vendor claims roughly 90% automation with human judgement reserved for the rest.
Sector depth shows in the standards it reads: ETIM, BMEcat, GS1 and UNSPSC, plus an optional Fitment module linking each part to the vehicles it fits, with manufacturer, model and year range alongside fitting position and notes. A DAM add-on and SKUConcierge, a managed service where SKULaunch's own team sources and validates supplier data, round out the offer.
Consumption is metered in AI credits: one credit runs one SKU through one AI action. Results cited on the site include 35,000 SKUs structured in three weeks at Mole Valley Farmers, and PIM completeness rising from 30% to 94% at Bowens Australia. The publisher is SKU Launch Ltd, a product grown out of the consultancy Start with Data.
What it does
- Ingest supplier PDFs, spreadsheets, CSVs, images and product URLs without reformatting them first
- Extract structured attributes — brand, size, colour, weight, technical specifications — from free text and documents
- Send each supplier a portal link where AI pre-fills the data and the supplier only has to confirm it
- Normalise units, naming and values from around 200 supplier formats into a single schema
- Build AI-generated attribute schemas for any product category, including ETIM-aligned ones
- Score catalogue completeness in real time by supplier, category and attribute, and gate publishing on it
- Publish approved records to a PIM, ERP, storefront or marketplace in each channel's required format
When to use SKULaunch / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if SKULaunch is the right fit.
When to use SKULaunch
- Retailers and distributors managing catalogues from 10,000 to well over 100,000 SKUs
- Product data and catalogue teams drowning in heterogeneous supplier files: PDFs, spreadsheets, images and product URLs
- Companies whose PIM sits half-populated after a platform project ended without the data ever arriving
- Technical distributors working to ETIM, BMEcat, GS1 or UNSPSC classification standards
- Automotive and aftermarket parts sellers who need fitment data linking every part to the vehicles it fits
When not to use SKULaunch
- Anyone who does not manage a SKU catalogue: this is a vertical product data tool, not a general-purpose AI assistant
- Teams needing a free or low-cost entry point, since the cheapest plan is £499 a month plus a one-off setup package of £999 to £4,999
- Starter-tier buyers who need PIM, ERP or eCommerce connectors, which only begin at the Scale tier
- Organisations with strict vendor due-diligence requirements: no terms of service, DPA, subprocessor list or security certification is published
- Users who need a mobile app or offline access, as SKULaunch is a web-only application
How to use SKULaunch
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Start the two-week free trial, which needs no card details and carries no commitment
- Take the optional 20-minute setup call, or wait for the team to reach out within one working day
- Bring your messiest supplier file, and send a data sample ahead of the call to have it enriched before you speak
- Connect your sources: upload spreadsheets, link your existing PIM, or send suppliers a portal link
- Let the AI map the incoming columns, flag anomalies and structure the records
- Review or accept the AI-suggested attribute schemas for each product category
- Run extraction and enrichment across the catalogue and read the confidence score attached to each value
- Review and approve by exception, then set validation rules and completeness thresholds
- Publish approved records to your PIM, storefront, marketplace or ERP
- Pick a setup package when you commit: Basic Setup, Schema Design or Managed Onboarding
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Pricing is published in full, with three costed tiers, which is rare in the PIM and product data market
- The two-week free trial runs on your own catalogue rather than a sandbox, and needs no card
- Unlimited users on every plan, with no per-seat and no per-record charges
- System-agnostic positioning lets you enrich now and connect your target platform later
- Native support for ETIM, BMEcat, GS1 and UNSPSC classification standards
- Human governance is built in: confidence scores, approval workflow and publishing thresholds
- An explicit commitment not to train shared general-purpose AI models on your product data
Cons
- No terms of service, no legal notice and no DPA are published: the privacy policy is the only contractual document on the site
- The real entry cost is higher than the headline, since a one-off setup package of £999 to £4,999 is charged on top of the £499 monthly subscription
- No postal address appears anywhere on the site, and no security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 is claimed
- There is no permanent free plan, and PIM, ERP and eCommerce connectors are absent from the Starter tier
- No named subprocessor list is published, and no data hosting country or region is stated
- The API is sold and referenced in every plan but has no public documentation page
- The site still carries unedited template remnants and an outdated price list inside its structured data
Pricing & Plans
There is no permanent free plan. SKULaunch offers a 14-day free trial on the customer's own data, with no card details required. The lowest paid entry point is the Starter plan at £499 (GBP) per month, billed monthly and cancellable at any time. Prospective buyers should note that a one-off setup package is charged in addition to the subscription, ranging from £999 for Basic Setup to £4,999 for Schema Design, the latter being the option the vendor reports 82% of customers select.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how SKULaunch handles your data.
GDPR overview
SKULaunch is explicit about its framework: the company is registered in England and Wales and processes personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This is the UK regime, not the EU GDPR. Seven data subject rights are listed — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent — plus a right to human review of automated decisions. Requests go to privacy@skulaunch.com, and the policy names the UK Information Commissioner's Office as the supervisory authority. Transfers outside the UK rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the ICO, or on adequacy. Three gaps are worth flagging: no EU representative is designated under Article 27, no data protection officer is named, and the policy carries no last-updated date despite promising to maintain one.
Who owns the data?
SKULaunch claims no ownership over the product data you upload. Its privacy policy treats account data, supplier portal submissions, product content and communications as separate categories, and states plainly that it does not sell personal information. Product data submitted through the Supplier Portal is shared with the client organisation that invited the supplier, so a supplier's content flows to the retailer by design. Data may also be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or asset sale, with notice. One caveat matters: SKULaunch publishes no terms of service, so the privacy policy is the only contractual document available, and ownership of uploaded and generated content is never addressed head-on.
Reuse rights
The privacy policy sets out why SKULaunch processes data: delivering and operating the service, managing accounts and payments, improving the product, customer support, communications, legal compliance and security. Its UK GDPR legal bases are performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent and legal obligation. Product data you upload is processed by SKULaunch's AI systems solely to deliver the service, and the company commits explicitly not to use your proprietary product data to train general-purpose AI models shared with other customers. Enterprise customers can separately buy custom AI model training on their own data, which is a dedicated arrangement rather than a contradiction of that commitment. You may request human review of automated decisions that significantly affect you. Because no terms of service exist, nothing on the site states whether you may reuse the enriched output freely, though the product is sold precisely so that you can publish it to your own channels.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
SKULaunch does not disclose where customer data is hosted. No hosting country or region is named anywhere on the site, and there is no mention of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or any named data centre. The privacy policy addresses the question only obliquely: information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the United Kingdom, and such transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or on transfers to countries with adequate protection. The controlling jurisdiction is clear — SKU Launch Ltd is registered in England and Wales and operates under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 — but the physical location of processing is not. The Scale plan advertises multi-region and language support without naming a region. Stated security measures are generic: encryption, access controls, regular security assessments and staff training, with no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification claimed. The website itself sits behind Cloudflare on an anycast address, which says nothing about where customer product data is stored.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting SKULaunch.
- The homepage's structured data still advertises an obsolete price list — a £1,200 Starter and a £3,500 'Growth' plan — that contradicts the £499 and £1,299 tiers actually sold; always price from the pricing page
- Headline prices are 'from' figures, and the setup package of £999 to £4,999 is charged separately, so first-year cost is materially higher than £499 a month suggests
- With no terms of service published, there is no written commitment on uptime, liability, ownership of generated output or termination; the privacy policy is all you get
- GDPR compliance is claimed under the UK regime rather than the EU one, and no Article 27 EU representative is designated, which EU buyers should verify before committing catalogue data
- The privacy policy carries no last-updated date, so there is no way to tell when its commitments were last revised
- Generated product copy is only as good as the attributes behind it: the vendor's own pitch rests on human review by exception, and skipping that review reintroduces exactly the unverifiable specifications the tool promises to eliminate
- The publisher was incorporated in March 2025 with a single director and has not yet filed accounts, which is normal for a young company but relevant to long-term vendor risk
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low to moderate, with a telling caveat. SKULaunch is sold as self-service: you can start a trial in minutes without a card, the AI maps columns and suggests attribute schemas, and no development skills are advertised as necessary. A 20-minute setup call comes as standard. The caveat is that 82% of customers reportedly buy the £4,999 Schema Design package rather than the £999 basic setup, which suggests defining a sound attribute schema is usually guided work rather than a self-service exercise. Native PIM, ERP and eCommerce connectors start at the Scale tier; everything else goes through the API.

Should you pick SKULaunch?
SKULaunch is a focused, credible answer to a narrow but expensive problem: supplier product data that arrives in the wrong shape and stalls everything downstream. Within that scope it is well built. The four-stage pipeline is coherent, the standards coverage — ETIM, BMEcat, GS1, UNSPSC — signals genuine familiarity with technical distribution, and the Fitment module addresses a real automotive aftermarket need that generic PIM tools ignore. Publishing full prices with three costed tiers is unusual and welcome in a market where almost everything is quote-only, and unlimited users on every plan removes the per-seat friction that makes catalogue work expensive elsewhere.
The reservations are about the vendor rather than the product. The documentation apparatus is thin: no terms of service, no legal notice, no DPA, no subprocessor list, no stated hosting location, no security certification, and no postal address anywhere on the site. For a tool asking to ingest an entire commercial catalogue, that is a real gap in a procurement review. The privacy policy is clear and reassuring where it speaks — particularly its commitment not to train shared models on customer data — but it carries no last-updated date and it is the only contractual document available.
Buyers should also price honestly. The advertised £499 a month is a floor, and the setup package that 82% of customers reportedly buy adds £4,999 before the first SKU is enriched. Finally, the site itself needs a pass: an obsolete price list still sits in the homepage structured data, and unedited template placeholders survive on several pages.
For a retailer or distributor with a stalled catalogue and no appetite for a six-month implementation, SKULaunch is worth the free trial. Treat the missing paperwork as questions to ask, not as dealbreakers.
