Ucraft
Ucraft is a drag-and-drop website builder for people who do not code. It covers marketing sites, portfolios, blogs and online stores, with free Google Cloud hosting, free SSL and a permanent free plan.
What is Ucraft?
Ucraft is a hosted drag-and-drop website builder. You pick a template, move blocks around in a visual editor and publish; no coding experience is required at any point. The company describes itself as founded in 2014 by a group of design enthusiasts, growing out of Bang2Joom, a Joomla template club run from 2010 to 2014. It claims more than 100 employees, two offices in Glendale, California and Yerevan, Armenia, and 360,000 active users. Three use cases sit at the centre of the product: a marketing site or portfolio, an online store, and a blog. More than 120 designer-made templates are sorted by sector, from eCommerce and fashion to restaurants, photography, education and non-profit. Every plan, the free one included, comes with hosting on Google Cloud, unlimited bandwidth and storage, and an SSL certificate issued in under a minute once a domain is connected. The commerce side is unusually complete for the price: 50+ payment gateways, 20+ carriers, digital goods, product variations, inventory tracking, discount coupons, abandoned cart recovery, reverse-charge VAT, custom invoices, and selling through Facebook, Instagram, Amazon and eBay. Ucraft takes 0% commission on your transactions. Around it sit a logo maker, an SEO editor covering meta tags, XML sitemap, robots.txt, 301/302 redirects and automatic WebP conversion, free Unsplash and Noun Project libraries, and roughly seventy third-party integrations. A White Label offer, launched in June 2016, lets an agency or reseller run the whole builder under its own brand, domain and price list, with an admin back office and a REST API on the Self Hosted plan. A public Accounts API is documented at api.ucraft.com, using REST and OAuth 2.0. One point deserves emphasis on an AI directory: Ucraft embeds no artificial intelligence of its own. There is no AI site generation, no AI copywriting, no AI image generation. The only AI on the site is Hoory, a third-party support assistant from the same group, offered as an integration.

When to use Ucraft
- Small business owners who need a professional site online quickly and without a developer
- Freelancers, artists and photographers building a portfolio on a tight budget
- Independent merchants opening a first online store and unwilling to pay a platform commission on sales
- Bloggers and community organisers who want a site, a blog and a mailing form in one place
- Design agencies and resellers who want to sell a website builder under their own brand through the White Label offer
When not to use Ucraft
- Anyone shopping for generative AI: Ucraft has no native AI feature at all, and the only AI on the site is a third-party support assistant
- Merchants who need to sell in several currencies, which the platform explicitly does not support
- Teams that need to own or export their codebase, since everything is built inside a proprietary editor with no site export announced
- Organisations with strict data governance needs: no DPA, no named EU representative and no declared hosting jurisdiction
- Developers looking for a full site-building API: the public API covers accounts only, and the REST API is reserved for the Self Hosted White Label plan

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Ucraft handles your data.
GDPR overview
The privacy policy is an iubenda document that states explicitly it was drafted under Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679. It lists the full set of data subject rights: withdrawal of consent, objection, access, rectification, restriction, erasure, portability and complaint to a supervisory authority, with a one-month, free-of-charge response commitment through a single contact address. Two gaps matter. The document has not been revised since 12 May 2020 and still describes several processors as Privacy Shield participants, a framework struck down that same year. And no Data Protection Officer and no Article 27 EU representative are named anywhere, while no Data Processing Agreement is offered. Compliance is claimed by construction, never asserted in so many words.
Who owns the data?
The terms are published by Ucraft LLC, while the privacy policy names Soft Construct LLC at the same Delaware address as data controller. You keep the content you upload, but by publishing it you grant the publisher a non-exclusive, fully paid-up and royalty-free licence to process it, limited to operating and maintaining the service. You also waive your moral rights as far as the law allows, and you remain solely liable for what you publish. The publisher reserves the right to refuse, moderate, remove or block any content at its own discretion. The platform itself, its trademarks and its templates stay the exclusive property of the publisher or its licensors.
Reuse rights
Your own content stays yours to reuse as you wish: nothing in the terms restricts what you do with the texts, images and products you upload, and the licence you grant is limited to running the service. The opposite is not true. Everything Ucraft supplies on the platform, including templates, design blocks and trademarks, is covered by all-rights-reserved wording: you may not copy, download, modify, translate, resell, sublicense or build derivative works from it beyond what normal use of the service requires. Personal data collected about you is processed for analytics, authentication, payments, remarketing and behavioural targeting, and shared with named third-party services. No training of AI models on customer data is mentioned anywhere.

Hosting summary
Ucraft states that websites are hosted on Google Cloud, presented as fast and secure, free of charge on every plan, with unlimited bandwidth and storage and a free SSL certificate; the White Label page adds a 99.99% SLA. Beyond that, the jurisdiction is undeclared. Neither the privacy policy, nor the terms, nor any trust or security page names a country or a region where customer data is stored. The policy limits itself to saying that data is processed at the publisher's operating offices and wherever the parties involved in the processing are located. The only places actually named apply to third-party services rather than to hosting: the United States for Google, Mixpanel, Stripe, Disqus, Intercom, Twitter and Facebook, and Malta for Hotjar. The publisher's own offices are in Glendale, California and Yerevan, Armenia. Anyone with a data residency requirement will need to ask before committing.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Ucraft.
- Published sites are permanently deleted 90 days after a subscription or trial expires, with no possibility of restoration
- A free site is deleted after 37 days with fewer than three visitors, with a single warning email on the 30th day
- Subscriptions renew automatically on the saved payment method, and fixed-term subscriptions cannot be cancelled early
- Refunds are narrow: technical failures only, initial purchase only, never twice for the same service, and credited to your Ucraft balance by default
- The privacy policy dates from 2020 and still relies on the Privacy Shield, so the transfer framework it advertises no longer holds
- Vendor lock-in is real: content lives in a proprietary editor and no site export is announced anywhere on the site
- Two different company names appear on the legal pages, which makes it harder to know who you are actually contracting with
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. Everything happens in a visual drag-and-drop editor and the site advertises sign-up in under five seconds and a six-step path to publication. A temporary subdomain is provided immediately, so a first site can go live without touching DNS. Connecting your own domain means one DNS change, after which the SSL certificate is issued automatically in under a minute, or you can buy the domain through Ucraft and skip that step. Deeper work is optional: HTML, CSS and JavaScript embeds, robots.txt, redirects and, on the Self Hosted White Label plan, a REST API.

Should you pick Ucraft?
Ucraft is a mature, competent website builder that competes on price rather than on innovation. For a small business, a freelancer or an artist who needs a clean, responsive site online this week, the offer is hard to fault: a permanent free plan, Google Cloud hosting and SSL bundled in at every tier, a paid entry point at USD 6 per month on annual billing, and a store with 50+ payment gateways on which Ucraft takes no commission. The multilingual and multi-regional features, with automatic visitor language detection and one domain per language, are genuinely uncommon at this price. Agencies get a further route through the White Label offer, which turns the platform into a resellable product under their own brand. Two reservations deserve to be weighed. The first is that this is not an AI tool. Across the pages collected, artificial intelligence appears only as Hoory, a third-party support assistant from the same group offered as an integration. Anyone arriving here in search of AI site generation, AI copywriting or AI imagery will not find them. The second is the state of the legal paperwork: the privacy policy has not been revised since May 2020 and still describes processors as Privacy Shield participants, no Data Processing Agreement is published, no EU Article 27 representative is named, and the terms and the privacy policy do not even agree on the corporate name behind the service. Add the deletion rules, which remove a lapsed site after 90 days and an inactive free site after 37, and the picture is clear: excellent value for a personal or small-business site, harder to defend where data governance is scrutinised.
